The Knights Templars And Philip IV

Continuing with "link week" here at Mysterious Societies, I came across an article from 2007 in the National Post Editorial Board. The post in the um...Post....is about the Knight's Templar and in particular their relationship with the Catholic Church. It explores how the Templars had risen to enormous wealth and power only to end up on the wrong side of the Vatican's idea of what a good Christian was....

However, the author, Marni Soupcoff, does explain how the "Church" and by that I mean Pope, was more or less bullied into turning on the Templar Organization by Philip IV, a the French Monarch who owed a lot of money to the Templars, and who wanted to get it back without actually paying for it. Using his influence, he managed to turn the Templars into hunted men, an organization in disgrace and distress.
