Gravestone Symbols

If you have ever walked through a graveyard you've probably noticed some symbols, statues and decorations on the headstones, particularly headstones from the past century. These are usually symbols of the deceased's occupation or membership in an organization, often a faternal organization like the Masonic Lodge or others. Some are obvious, some not so obvious, but all have some meaning.
For example, the double headed eagle carving is a Masonic symbol, symbolizing a 32nd degree Mason.

I came across a website that lists lots of the symbols, with pictures and offers and explanation of what they mean. It's fascinating, especially to those of us interested in the mysteries and the members of these organizations. You can see the pictures and the explanations Here!
