Robert Anton Wilson, the author of a number of books about a secret society made up of members from all over the world, The Illuminati, died recently at his home in Capitola, California. Wilson was 74.
Among his books, is The Illuminatus Trilogy co-authored with his friend Robert Shea, in the 1960's. It contains three books of interest to us, The Eye In The Pyramid, The Golden Apple and Leviathan. As I understand it, the books never made the bestseller list, but they have not gone out of print since they were first published in 1975.You can still buy it here:
The books are about secret societies, and are based on a struggle between The Illuminati and a group they called The Discordians, who are not familiar to me.
The Illuminati are the group controlling the world, while The Discordians resist them using whatever means they can find. It's fiction, usually referred to as science fiction, because it gets a little extreme, in terms of the goings on between these two groups. Unfortunately, too much science fiction, keeps these books and others like them from being believed as anything but fiction, while there may in fact be many truths contained in them.
Robert Anton Wilson wrote about 35 books in all, including The Cosmic Trigger, an autobiography in 1977. His other books were about extrasensory perception, mental telepathy, metaphysics, the paranormal, conspiracies, sex, drugs and something called quantum psychology.
An interesting fellow apparently, who brought forward many ideas otherwise not heard of, or at least not spoken about until then.
